Method of Programme
Regulatory Bodies like UGC, MHRD, AICTE, State Directorates of Collegiate Education and Technical Education, universities etc collect and process various statistics of the student/teacher/ institutional level. Similarly NAAC and NBA also collects various data elements of individual institutions for the accreditation procedure. They have amassed volume of data belong to government and private institutions of higher education sector. National Higher Education Survey conducts all over the country and moved quite ahead in this direction. It is imperative to ensure the participation of institutions in the state regardless of the sector to which it belongs. A collective participatory initiative is the fundamental instrument to fulfil the task. A proper database system needs to be developed in order to cater the comprehensive targets of this initiative. This database system shall be user friendly and compatible with the current datasets of the potential sources. KSHEC can offer this service of conducting this survey subject to the following requirements:
- An ERP solution suitable for Academic Data Management may be provided.
- Specific directions to the institutions to supply the time bound and meticulous data elements
- State regulatory institutions shall provide the available / collected data to the council
- Data Entry level support team may be provided either from competent institutions or direct ad-hoc basis
Purpose
- Strengthening official Statistical system to produce Education Statistics periodically with timeliness and quality so as to assess and review the performance of education sector and regional divergences across the country.
- Encouraging all producers of official Statistics to adopt common geographic referencing and coding standards to provide statistical aggregates/ estimates at State, District and Block level.
- Promoting collection of data in electronic mode. Periodically reviewing all regular surveys by undertaking in-house reviews of actual results over time and identifying data-gaps.
- Developing techniques that reduce burden on data providers
- Strengthening Institutional Coordination between Ministry and other data producing agencies such as University Grants Commission, All India Council for Technical Education, National University of Educational Planning & Administration, Medical Council of India, State Government Departments, and Examination Boards etc.
- Benefiting students by creating Centralized portal which can provide updated information to students which may be useful for their decision making.
- To conduct some special surveys and longitudinal studies for more detailed insight of Higher Education in the country.
